Here is a collection of my favourite artworks from 2011.
Wednesday
Dream Video - Trapped in Communication
Unfortunately I didn't have the updated version of Premiere Pro so I wasn't able to export the video as the extension of my choice, the only option it gave me was mpeg, the quality isn't too bad though. Alot of the sound effects wouldn't work either with this version I had, but I hope you enjoy the video anyway!
Sunday
Weebly Website and Deviant Art

Emotion Sculpture
I found this assignment quite interesting, main reason being we got to design our own sculpture. The emotion I decided to go with was EXCITEMENT, so my sculpture is a man doing a handstand!
Lego Mini Figure
This was the most frustrating assignment I've had to do to date. I'm pretty happy with the end result, but don't think I'll be doing much more 3D sculpture!
Here is my finished Lego Woman :)
Tuesday
Cindy Sherman Homage - Ideas
I have a few ideas for the Cindy Sherman assignment, I got my inspiration from looking at some of her artwork through google. I noticed she does alot of 60's style black and white shots, I want to do one of these. I also wanted to do a gothic looking one, I tried to take some gothic shots today at TAFE, but I didnt really like anything I came up with, but I have organised with Mia to come to my house tomorrow and we're gonna take our shots then. Hopefully we come up with some good ones! And some more ideas!
Sunday
Weebly
So I've started creating my new Weebly website and have put up some of my photography and some artwork done in class. I plan on adding a whole heap more of my photography really soon and cant wait to create some more artwork to put up there as well. So far I'm finding the site pretty easy to use, although some of the features I would like to use need a pro account which costs money, and I don't have much of that for now, so for the time being I'll just use whats available.

PRINTMAKING!
Im really enjoying this new class, have already done some prints of the totem we made using lino, I enjoyed making it so much I've already almost completed the second tile with another Aquarius related design that I really surprised myself in creating. I will upload some images of their prints once completed!
Meanwhile here is the image I used to make my totem print.
Old/New Assignment
So Stacey suggested to Mia and myself that we go to an abandoned house she knew of in Berwick to take some photos for the old/new assignment.
The house was completely trashed, and quite unsafe, so we didn't stay very long, but got enough photos for our assignment.
Here is my finished piece.
I had alot of fun with this assignment, not to mention a fun day out with Mia and Stacey!
Wednesday
Distortion Video
My Distortion video was aimed at making people laugh, so far I have succeeded in doing this, hope you find it just as funny!
FUNNY FACE - by Lauren Hollow
Monday
HAVE FUN GUYS!
Just wanted to say that I hope you all have a fantastic time up in Sydney! Wish I could have come along but my financial situation just wouldn't allow it unfortunately, bring back lots of happy snaps to show me!
Be safe and have fun everyone xox
Some more HDR using Photomatix
Mia and myself decided to take a trip to the city to take some more HDR photos for our portfolios. Here are some of my images, make sure you check out Mia's photography too, its greatl!
City Collage
This is what I started with, arranging newspaper clippings in a way that looks like a city skyline.

After playing around with it on photoshop and adding some other images of buildings and other random things around the city, this is my final piece, I personally think its pretty awesome!
Sunday
Photo Essay
For the photo essay I decided to take Macro images of all things nature, I find Macro photography extrememely interesting and believe its a great way to see things in a whole new way. Here is my end result, hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did putting it together!
I cant seem to get Youtube to co-operate with me right now, so here is a link to the video!

City Assignment
We were asked to draw some lines using charcoal, take a snapshot of our artwork and bring it into Photoshop. Then add some photos of building that we took over the Easter Break. I also used some other photos of building I had in my collection from our excursion to the city and some other random photos I had laying around. Here are my finished works.
Fire Video
This project took me a while to come up with a concept, and I believe that I didnt think it over as well as I could have, but nevertheless am still happy with my end result.
Much thanks to my good friend "AZZA" also for being the star of my short film.
Friday
My Second Attempt at the X-Ray Giraffe
So i decided to practice with masks at home and ended up with a much cooler, in my opinion anyway, animation!
Here it is!
Thursday
"Masking" in After Effects
Today we were introduced to masking in After Effects, these are 2 animations made with masking.
The first one using 2 layers, one the regular giraffe photo and the other being the x-ray image of that giraffe. Using the masking feature I moved the mask around the giraffe to reveal different areas of the underneath layer.
The second animation was made using a transperent photoshop document. Using the mask feature slowly revealed the vine as if it was growing. I had some trouble with this one uploading it to YouTube, so stay tuned and it should be uploaded soon!
Wednesday
Introduction to HDR and "bracketing"
We spent half the day shooting bracketed photos down at Frankston Foreshore, this is a really exciting way to take photos, I came out with some pretty good shots, had a great time doing it and plan on doing many more!
Here are some of my favourite shots I came out with from that day at Frankston Foreshore.
I am planning on purchasing the HDR program called Photomatix, which is the program I used to merge these bracketed photos, unfortunately because I have not purchased it as yet, my photos have a Photomatix waterark on them.

Stop Motion Assignment
At first this assignment worried me a bit because we were pressed for time and to get the lighting correct you must do all 300 shots in the one sitting, however we had to do half of them then come back later to complete it, it didnt look right having done it this way so I decided to start over at home using a blackboard, had a light set up next to the blackboard so the lighting wouldnt change throughout the stop motion.
And here is my end result, enjoy!

Excursion to Melbourne CBD
First I would like to say a big THANKYOU to David Trout for organising this excursion for us.
We started out at the National Gallery of Victoria and saw some amazing pieces including one of my personal favourites Picasso! Took alot of photos here but then unfortunately my battery died :(
After the gallery we had a quick lunch break then moved onto ACMI. I thought ACMI was the best part of the whole day, had an ball with all the interactive things they had there! Myself, Mia and Jarryd, classmates of mine decided to give the Matrix thing a go, the videos turned out great! Here is the best one we came up with!
After ACMI we went to Hosier Lane just off Flinders Street. This is where alot of the famous graffiti pieces live and constantly change. My classmate Tom was kind enough to lend me one of his spare cameras since mine was dead, so took a decent ammount of photos at Hosier Lane including a Hockney piece will I will post later on.
Then we headed over to RMIT to have a look at their gallery which involved Japanese Anime from 1950's - 2000's and another area dedicated to China and Revolution: History, Parody and Memory in Contemporary Art.
All in all was a fantastic day!

Fire Assignment - 3 Brainstorms
1. Using 10-20 teabags lined up in a row and lighting each one on fire one by one and having them float up into the air.
2. Film a fireplace burning then project that onto a TV then film a couple cuddling on a couch watching the fireplace on the TV in front of them. The finished piece would be a video of the couple watching their fake fireplace.
3. Use tealight candles to light a path starting from inside somewhere leading outside to show a larger fire.

First Entry
My mind is really being opened up to a lot of new things I never would have thought about myself, its making me think differently and turning me into a better artist. Extremely excited to see what i come up with next!
